Our Mission

We Are Making Progress

More opportunities than ever, greater chances for success.

Young people have more chances than ever to create a world full of promise. We are committed to making that happen with them.

What We Do

We generate funds to support youth projects across London providing inspiring, safe surroundings for young people. Through the Fourth Feathers Youth and Community Centre in Marylebone the Association demonstrates understanding and the effectiveness of its core objectives.

The Centre runs programmes during the week which are drawn up in consultation with young people. All the activities and projects have an informal educational content. These include archery, arts and crafts, boxing, cooking, dance, basketball, football, gardening, music, skate-boarding, and there are holiday programmes which incorporate trips both within London as well as residential weekends and an annual week on a farm in Somerset. There is also a job club and a Volunteeering programme. The team at the Fourth Feathers Youth Centre consists of a Senior Youth Worker, part-time youth workers and volunteers. All the staff team are encouraged to take courses to further their qualifications.

Who Funds Us

Over the past 80 years we have have worked with some of the foremost funding institutes and individuals – and today we are recognised as a leading authority on youth work in London. The Feathers Association is extremely grateful to all its funders  for their continuing support of our work.

Other organisations have supported specific programmes including Barings, The Portman Foundation, Peter Lord Memorial Fund, the Landmark Hotel, Schroder Charity Trust, National Grid, South Square Trust, BGS Cayzer Trust, Westminster Primary Care Trust, Westminster Councillors’ Ward Budget Funds and Positive Activities for Young People, who help to fund the outbound programmes.

Success Stories

Many young people who have been involved with one of the projects we support have gone on to make interesting careers and meaningful adult lives – for example there is  Sonique who is now featuring in an advert for Lucozade and Abdullah and Abdul Raman who have become basketball players for the hard of hearing England team. Sufiyan has just won Silver medal in the London Youth Games. Ali and many others have gone on to University to study business studies, Priscilla has gone to University and Arbessa, who is helping us take photographs for the website, is in college studying photography. One member has achieved a Bronze medal in Taekwondo and there are many European finalists.

Raising horizons, nurturing talent, creating safe spaces for young people in London to grow up in healthy ways.
